Awesome resource to help students practice fluency. The poems are so fun and also sometimes relate to what we are doing in math or science or social studies! The kids love to practice and perform for the class and it helps to improve their fluency skills with repeated reading!

Great! My students love this book!

I ordered this book last spring and my second graders loved it. It really got them excited about reading with fluency and expression. They loved to read with partners or when we divided the whole group. My students begged me to read their favorites over and over. The poems also have fun pictures. I am excited to use it again in the coming school year.

Good for fluency.

My small group of grade 3 readers enjoy this while it lends a new twist on repeated reading. They interchange parts, read in pairs, groups or solo. There are good opportunities for vocabulary development in the playful, yet factual rhymes. While it says appropriate for grades 2-4, one needs to examine the selections more carefully to align with grade the level taught.

Now I've Read it...and I can't wait for #4

The only problem with this series is that I started reading them before they were all published! Now I need to wait a few months before I can continue on the exciting journey with Aiden and Meg. The Falconer children are resourceful and on the run. With two groups hunting them -- the police and an assasin, the action never stops.

A very good choice for reluctant readers or middle schoolers looking for an adventure story. It's a quick read and will appeal to both boys and girls since the main characters are brother and sister.

Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Hooked!

I am a 4th grade teacher who picked up the first book, "On the Run: Chasing the Falconers" at my school's book fair. I used this book as a read aloud and usually put it away for the day at the MOST exciting parts. At that point, the students would shout, "NO! Keep reading!" which is music to a teacher's ears!

By the time I picked up the 2nd in the series, "The Fugitive Factor" it was almost summer time. I read the first chapter aloud and encouraged them to check it out for themselves as a summer read. I also informed them that the 3rd (and I thought final) book, "Now You See Them, Now You Don't" would be out in August. The funny thing is that I recently purchased the latest book thinking that since Korman usually writes trilogies, I would read about the final fate of Aidan and Meg. Unfortunately, I raced through and was disappointed but yet intrigued to find out that there are actually three more planned!

I recommend this to young readers and teachers as a wonderful contemporary series. This action-adventure book is an amazing story for upper elementary-middle school aged kids. Gordon Korman hooks you like you wouldn't believe. You find yourself holding your breath just about when Aidan and Meg are caught. But they ALWAYS seem to find a way out-those are some quick thinking kids! I plan to use this book again this year in my classroom, and I am sure that my students (me included!) will be itching for the next few months to get the rest of the series.

AMAZING!!!!!!

I read the first book of on the run and loved it! The action and exietment was outstanding. Gordon made me feel like I was in the book. When cops came close to getting them I got the same nervous feeling the Falconers got. I think it is amazing how the kids were searching for there parents. I cant wait to read the next book.

I wasn't sure what i was going to put in there seeing as i had to put other food items as well in the bag but i saw this book and it was the perfect size! And it's also something easy for my son to read as he's still learning.

A fun read

This 116 page book is a great transition for kids who are finishing up with picture books and starting chapter books. There are fun pictures, but an even funnier, more engaging story for them to read!

This adventure features Geronimo and his sister Thea as they journey to Transratania to rescue his cousin Trap from vampire bats.

Kids will enjoy the inventiveness with the use of fonts--type, color and sizes. There is a lot of humor and slapstick comedy in the book. The inside humor though will be more appreciated if the reader is familar with the series!

he is related to Count Trip von Trappen.He goes to Trip's

decendent's house in TRANSRATNIA and hires himself as a cook.Trap gets bored

and calls "Gerronomeister", saying he's in trouble.

Thea,Gerronimo, and Ben come to help and....well, they're

suprised and so is Trap!

Korman did it again

These books are not just for youth they are interesting for us adults too. This and alot of Kormans other books are well written and page turners. My 13 year old twins got all excited when I said that I was ordering another Gordan Korman set. (The on the run set of 6) They now know what to expect from his books and so do I. A good action/adventure page turner. If you like action adventure these books are a good buy. I'm not saying what they are about (I don't do book reports at my age) but I will say I stayed up until 1:30 a.m. because I couldn't put the book down until I finished it. (The on the run series) Dive was great too, but the On the run, Kidinapped, and Island books are still our favorites. These are good kid-rule type books. (You know kids in a situation they have to get out of without much adult intervention) Worth the money.

In 1969, Allan Zullo graduated with a journalism degree from Northern Illinois University where he worked on the school's daily paper, The Northern Star, first as a sportswriter, then news editor, managing editor and finally editor-in-chief. Excellent but for mature, emotionally stable kids 12 and up

This book should be read by everyone that is emtionally mature enough to handle it. I am writing this review as a warning to parents that might purchase this book for a younger child based on the "Reading Level: 9 - 12" rating and the fact that it is a Scholastic book. My 4th grader's teacher recommended this book but I am glad I took a look at it first. Here's an excerpt from the book taking place as one of the children is being smuggled out of a ghetto by her father hiding her under his coat. The following exchange takes place between the guard and the man ahead of them at the gate:
"Hurry up!" shouted the impatient German guard.

Hearing the loud bang, Luncia jerked. Her father wrapped his arms tight around his coat to keep her still, but her whole body trembled uncontrollably. He's going to shoot us all, I know it.

I know that my 4th grader is not ready to read this kind of material but this is an excellent book to be read by everyone that is ready for this type of material. Very well written information that we all should know and never forget.

A touching and important reminder......for everyone

I didn't realize this was a children's book until it arrived. I'm glad I didn't or I might have missed out on this fine collection of experiences. Because it is a children's book, it gently glosses over some of the horrors these holocaust survivors saw. Those scenes are not removed from the story, but, the specifics are left to your own mind.

Each chapter tells the story of a different child's experience.

Two children were part of the kindertransport, but didn't go all the way to England. Another was on the ill-fated ship the St. Louis. A shocking reminder of how some survived and some didn't by the smallest of decisions.

I have already read it many times. I intend to share it with my nieces when they next visit. The next generation must know that the Holocaust did exist. That over six million people died not for 'who' they were but for 'what' they were (Jewish, Gypsy, Gay, etc.). Unfortunately, nothing seems to unite people like having 'someone' to blame all your problems on. The Nazis and countless others both before and since have made that very clear.

This is an amazing compilation of true stories by children

This is an amazing compilation of true stories by children, documenting their horrific tragic war stories. Through the eyes of a child and the bond of each chapter being held together by a common thread. In this case we are talking about concentration camp survivors. WW2 was the worst place to be if one were Jewish and a child.
One day a prosperous family unit, the next day families vanished. Piled in cattle car style trains, taken against their will. Many were shot, sick from typhus, or separated upon arrival all at the hands of the SS. We must never forget the despicable, narcisstic monster Hitler. Including his evil regiment of the brutal SS army. This will make you cry.
