Perfect book for teaching Spanish to kids

I teach Spanish to a class of ten 6 year-olds and this book held their interest week after week. It is highly entertaining and there is never more than one sentence per page. It provided us with vocabulary that we studied and used in other situations. I wish every book by David Shannon were translated into Spanish but we've only got David goes to School (David va al colegio) and David gets in Trouble (David se mete en lios). Alice the Fairy has been translated as Alicia el hada, but is a bit advanced for beginners. Its large pages make it easy for all to see when it's held up but it is cheap since it's a paperback!

Great Trait Based Graphic Organizer

I bought this with hesitation. You never know if a book will be useful or not. This book is very useful and has a break down of traits linked with each organizer. The graphic organizers are nice organizers that user friendly. I will use this a lot as I venture out to try more trait based writing. Kudos to the authors!

There isn't anything inside that I didn't already know about or have seen on the internet after being in childcare for the past 7 years. I was hoping for some new ideas.

I chose this title because every night I read this book until I fall asleep, and then I wake up early and read it again. I adore this book. This book is about a boy and his friends who don't like this girl and her friends because they brag that she's so brave and she embarrasses the boy so they try to scare her they try four times but fail until the fourth time but it doesn't only scare her it scares them. Here are some reasons why I like this book and not like this book.

1. This book is frightening but not scary.
2. I like this book because it has a little mystery to it.
3. I don't like this book because it is very confusing at the end.
4. I like this book because at the end of every chapter something scary happens.
5. I adore this book because it is a little funny and the charters are smart
I am trying to read the hole series. I hope you like this book as much as I do.

Love It!

I am a second grade teacher and math tutor. I have started using this book for my tutoring sessions. I love it and the students love it. All of the lessons are based on a zoo theme and each student is designing his or her own zoo as we work through the lessons. The lessons teach addition and subtraction strategies such as doubles, doubles plus one, make 10 to add nine etc. It has been very appropriate for my second graders.

tres postmodern

The teacher who used this book to teach the difference between "fact and opinion" needs to go back to school. If anything, this book is a send-up on "reality." My daughter enjoys looking at the illustrations time and again interpreting them for me. The problem that she has, a problem I have no answer for, is this--- if the first set of illustrations tells the story from the dog's point of view, then WHOSE point of view does the second set of illustration reveal?

Korman gets his On the Run series off to a snappy start with this quick-moving caper. Fifteen-year-old Aiden Falconer and his 11-year-old sister, Meg, have been exiled to a juvenile detention center in rural Nebraska since their parents were sentenced to life in prison. (They are criminologists who were recruited by the CIA to help identify international terrorist sleeper cells, and were falsely convicted of treason.) The siblings believe they can clear their parents' names if only they can track down Frank Lindenauer, an old family friend and CIA operative who recruited the couple and then disappeared. But first Aiden and Meg must escape from the center. They get their chance when Aiden inadvertently starts a fire, and the ensuing chaos allows them to slip away into the night. The twists and turns of their mission and the police in hot pursuit contribute to a pageturner of a plot. A few coincidences and some implausible luck cut into the tale's credibility, but its deftly honed suspense and the protagonists' likable personalities will keep kids hooked. Great Series, fast paced

My 10-year-old loves this series, and has hooked her 12-year-old sister in to it, too. I've read some of the books out loud to the kids and they are fun, fast, and clean. Great suspense of a very appropriate nature for young readers. I would recommend these books to anyone.

If you are looking for a mystery book then this book I would recommend for you. The title of this story is Chasing the Falconers, the author’s name is Gordon Korman. There was a family there mom and dad were in jail. The kids named Meg and Aiden were at Sunnydale. Aiden and Meg were trying to find a way to get out! Once they got out, they had no money they thought they were stuck! They used all their resources. Aiden had experience with opening them. He hit it! Money came out.They were working and working so they can get there mom and dad out.
This story is mostly about how these two kid try to save their parents and prove that they are innocent. The series go up to 6 and this is only the first one! Find out if they will save their parents in time.

About the Author
Timothy V. Rasinski is a professor of education in the Department of Teaching, Leadership, and Curriculum Studies. Dr. Rasinski teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in literacy education. His major interests include working with children who find reading difficult, phonics and reading fluency instruction, and teacher development in literacy education. He has published over 100 articles and 10 books on various aspects of reading education. A past editor of THE READING TEACHER, the most widely read journal in reading education in the world, Dr. Rasinski is currently an editor for the JOURNAL OF LITERACY RESEARCH. Rasinski has served as president of the College Reading Association and he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the International Reading Association.

Dr. Timothy Rasinski is a Professor of Education in the Department of Teaching, Leadership, and Curriculum Studies. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in literacy education. His major interests include working with children who find reading difficult, phonics and reading fluency instruction, and teacher development in literacy education. He earned bachelor degrees in economics and education at the University of Akron and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. His master' s degree in special education also comes from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Dr. Rasinski was awarded the Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. Nancy Padak is a Distinguished Professor of Education at Kent State University where she directs the Reading and Writing Center and teaches graduate courses in literacy education and recently received the honor of Kent State University Distinguished Professor. She was a part of the team that wrote the initial grant to fund the state literacy resource center at Kent State University-Ohio Literacy Resource Center (OLRC) and has been a middle school and high school classroom teacher and administrator in a large urban school district. She frequently works with teachers, has written or edited a dozen books and more than 100 scholarly articles. Nancy is a past College Reading Association Presidentand a former Editor of "The Reading Teacher," She currently edits the "Journal of Literacy Research." Nancy . Nancy has three grown children, Katie, Mike and Matt. Her husband, Gary is Dean of Undergraduate Studies at Kent State. She enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. I had the pleasure of being introduced to the fast start reading book when my child was in the first grade. I love the poems and the activities that accompany them. The activities help reinforce phonics and reading skills. I have purchased this book to use with my class of first graders to help supplement their reading.
